The final vote count shows that Councillor Elect Rolleston won by 124 votes.
The seat became vacant earlier this year after the resignation of Mikaere Sydney for medical reasons.
Mayor Mahé Drysdale says he’s looking forward to welcoming Councillor Elect Rolleston to the Council governance table next month.
“The Māori Ward is an important seat at the governance table, because it helps ensure there is wide community representation.
“I look forward to Councillor Elect Rolleston joining our team of 10 and providing a voice for the Te Awanui Ward as we work collaboratively for the good of Tauranga.”
He will officially join the Council on 8 May 2025.
