Adams Ave vehicle closure remains while geotech assessments continue

The closure to vehicles at Adams Avenue and The Mall will remain in place while Council continues work with geotech engineers on the stability on Mauao.

Despite overnight rainfall being less than forecast, there was sufficient rain to maintain the current restrictions which requires a closure to vehicles along Adams Ave and The Mall.

Engineers are at site completing a range of assessments today including use of a drone which requires clear weather. Data gathered from this process will inform when engineers can enter the site to conduct further assessments.

Although vehicles access is restricted, pedestrian access is available along the shop-side of Adams Ave and on The Mall footpath.

The Calley Homes Women’s Triathlon is still going ahead tomorrow (Sunday, 15 February) as planned, and an alternate course via Grace Ave, instead of Adams Ave, is in place.

Businesses along Adams Ave, Marine Parade and Mount Mainstreet will be open and ready to welcome everyone, so take a moment to support local shops and cafés while you’re there.
