Two further tranches of documents will now be released, with the first published from 1:00pm on Thursday, 4 June 2026, and the second to follow on Thursday, 11 June 2026.
These documents will be made publicly available on the Mauao landslide webpage as part of Council’s commitment to transparency and accessibility, and in response to requests received under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) at Mauao landslide.
The upcoming release includes a wide range of material across several categories: Natural Hazard Records; Land Management: Slope, Track, and Vegetation; and Emergency and Natural Hazard Management.
Council acknowledges the significant public interest in this matter and remains committed to ensuring information is made available in a clear and accessible way. At the same time, the privacy and safety of individuals have been carefully considered. Personal information has been redacted where necessary, while the names of organisations responsible for reports and advice have been retained.
Multiple active and independent inquiries are currently underway, including those conducted by the Coroner, WorkSafe, and New Zealand Police, alongside an external review led by former High Court Judge Paul Davison KC and a central government inquiry.
