Mauao landslide update

Tauranga City Council advises that the monitoring alarms on Mauao have activated again today.

These alarms are linked to the monitoring system on the Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park landslide and can be triggered by a range of factors, including movement or changes detected within established thresholds.

The activation of the alarm does not necessarily indicate an immediate risk to public safety. In line with established procedures, Council staff and technical specialists are assessing the alert data and undertaking any required inspections.

Tauranga City Council responds to all monitoring alarms promptly, following a risk-based process to assess conditions, determine any necessary actions, and keep the public informed if further updates are required.

Adams Avenue, between Pilot Bay and the Maunganui Road roundabout, continues to be temporarily closed to vehicles. This is a precautionary measure following slips on Mauao over the weekend.
