Tauranga City Council will consider the proposed Organisational Response Programme Plan that sets out the organisation's response to the recommendations arising from the Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park Landslide External Review conducted by Hon Paul Davison KSO KC. The plan will be considered at Council's meeting on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
Six people tragically lost their lives after a landslide on the south-eastern slope of Mauao came down into the Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park shortly before 9.30am on 22 January 2026. The holiday park was owned and operated by Tauranga City Council.
The proposed programme has been developed to address all recommendations from the review and incorporates additional work focused on organisational culture and behaviours.
Council's consideration of the proposed Organisational Response Programme Plan marks an important milestone in determining how these improvements will be implemented and embedded across Tauranga City Council.
