The Senior Music Festival is the most anticipated events of the Young at Heart Festival.

Held in Bethlehem as part of this year's Young at Heart Festival, the event brought together 10 choirs from community groups and retirement villages across the Bay of Plenty. Over 300 tickets were sold, with family, friends and supporters filling the audience.

The Young at Heart Festival celebrates positive ageing and provides opportunities for older people to stay active, connected and involved in their communities. The Senior Music Festival has become one of its most anticipated events.

Event organiser Heather Orchard says the event demonstrates the power of music to bring people together.

“We're incredibly grateful to the performers and everyone who bought a ticket. Community support like this helps us continue providing compassionate care and support for patients and their whānau across our community."

Tauriko Ward Councillor Marten Rozeboom says it was wonderful to join the community to celebrate the talent and enthusiasm of our older residents while supporting Waipuna Hospice.

“It was an afternoon of memories, as I drifted back to the 70s and Mum’s music collection.”

Cr Rozeboom praised the performers and organisers for creating a memorable community event.

“Envirohub and the Acorn Foundation played an important role in making this event possible, helping create a vibrant celebration of music, connection and positive ageing.”

The Senior Choir Festival continues to grow in popularity, providing opportunities for older people to share their love of music, build friendships and perform in front of the wider community. Organisers are already looking forward to welcoming choirs back next year.
