Weather update - road closures and damage reports

Several roads are closed this morning as Tauranga continues to assess the impacts of a weather event that occurred overnight. Reports of damage are still being received from across the city.

Road closures currently in place include:

  • Welcome Bay Road – closed between Tauranga Waldorf School and the Welcome Bay Hot Pools. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes when travelling into the city. Teams are working to reopen the road later today.
  • Hamilton Street (west of Cameron Road) – closed.
  • Devonport Road (city) – closed.

Parks and public spaces:

  • Tye Park is closed due to numerous fallen trees. The public is asked to avoid the area.

There are also reports of damage to residential properties. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbours, friends, and whānau who may be affected.

These are early updates, and further information will be provided as assessments continue on our facebook page and website.
