Tauranga City Council has today committed to working with Western Bay of Plenty District Council to establish a council-controlled water services delivery organisation (CCO) from 1 July 2027 (subject to due diligence).

Tauranga City Council confirms its intention to transition to a water services council-controlled organisation by 2028, or sooner, but asks for more information on the governance and financial aspects of that entity.

Tauranga City Council has postponed its decision to confirm a preferred delivery model for future water services.

Tauranga City Council is exploring options for how it will deliver water services for the next 30 years and will consult the community on any proposals alongside its next Annual Plan.

Tauranga City Council is meeting on Monday 9 December and Tuesday 10 December to consider a number of important decisions for the future of the city.

At Monday’s Council meeting (26 August), several important decisions for Tauranga were discussed.
