During this stage, a 30km/h temporary speed limit will be in place, along with a 24/7 full road closure on the southern side of Bureta Road (outside the Bureta shops) at the Ngatai Road intersection.
Detours will operate as follows:
- Light vehicles: Ngatai Road – Short Street – Freyberg Steet– Landscape Road – Vale Street – Bureta Road
- Heavy vehicles: Approaching from the east (city centre): Vale Street – Bureta Road. Approaching from the west: Ngatai Road – Ōtūmoetai Road – Grange Road – Vale Street – Bureta Road
There will be no access to Bureta Road from Ngatai Road during this time, with this stage expected to take approximately six weeks, weather permitting. Residences and businesses, including the golf course, will remain accessible via detours.
Buses that normally travel along Bureta Road past the Bureta shops will detour via Vale Street, where a temporary bus stop will be in place.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained, with the two temporary crossings on Ngatai Road remaining in place. A temporary footpath will be installed within Bureta Park to provide a connection between Ngatai Road and Bureta Road. Shoulder closures will also be in place on the southern side of Ngatai Road.
