Resurfacing of the intersection is expected to take approximately two weeks (weather dependent) and will involve both day and night shifts to safely complete the work as efficiently as possible.
The Bureta shops will remain open and accessible throughout these works.
The current traffic management will remain in place until Friday 21 August, which includes a 24/7 road closure on the southern side of Bureta Road outside the Bureta shops, a temporary 30km/h speed limit through the work site on Ngatai Road, and no access from Ngatai Road to Bureta Road.
Upcoming traffic management changes include night works from 8pm to 6am on Sunday 23, Monday 24 and Thursday 27 August. The Ngatai /Bureta Road intersection will be fully closed during these works, and detours will be in place.
Day works will be 7am to 6pm, Monday 24 August to Thursday 27 August, stop/go traffic management will be in place on Ngatai Road, and there will be no access from Ngatai Road to either side of Bureta Road.
The following detours will be in place from Sunday 23 August to Friday 27 August:
Light vehicles: Ngatai Road – Short Street – Freyberg Street – Landscape Road – Vale Street – Bureta Road
Heavy vehicles: Vale Street – Grange Road – Ōtūmoetai Road – Ngatai Road
Kulim Avenue access: Via Maxwells Road and Harbour Drive
Once resurfacing is complete, the team will begin construction of the new roundabout and traffic islands. This will be followed by the final road surfacing across the project area and the installation of permanent road markings.
