Upcoming night works at the Ngatai/Bureta Road intersection

Night works to complete the final road resurfacing and line marking on Bureta Road as part of the Ngatai/Bureta Road intersection safety improvements project will start on Sunday 20 September.

Further night works will take place on Thursday 24 September, and Thursday 1 October, then for five consecutive nights from Sunday 4 October to complete resurfacing and line marking on Ngatai Road.

The intersection will be fully closed each of these nights between 8pm and 6am, with detours in place. The Bureta shops will remain open and accessible throughout these works.

Some noise and vibration will be associated with these works, however disruption will be minimised wherever possible.

Construction of the new roundabout and traffic islands is underway. To safely complete these works, temporary traffic management will be in place on Ngatai Road, including an off-peak (9am to 3pm) stop/go operation.

During the stop/go operation, there will be no access between Ngatai Road and either side of Bureta Road. Clearly signposted detours will be available for all affected traffic.

The following detours will be in place:

Light vehicles: Ngatai Road – Short Street – Freyberg Street – Landscape Road – Vale Street – Bureta Road
Heavy vehicles: Vale Street – Grange Road – Ōtūmoetai Road – Ngatai Road:
Kulim Avenue access: Via Maxwells Road and Harbour Drive

More information and updates on the project.
